If you want fresh food waste for your backyard compost and an odor-free kitchen, try using our BioBag 3 gallon waste bags with our ventilated max air food waste bucket. Kitchen food waste can build up bacterial odor quickly when collected in a solid plastic or ceramic pail. The reason is food waste creates heat and moisture that cannot escape when placed in these closed containers. Many modern collection pails contain charcoal filters or other devices to help mask the odor, but do little to slow the rotting process. The Max air buckets are ventilated on all sides, including the top and bottom. The Max air buckets are attractive for countertop placement and are also hinged if you wish to hang the bucket inside the door of your kitchen sink. BioBags breathe naturally, allowing heat and moisture to escape or evaporate. This process allows food waste to dry, thus reducing the rate of bacterial build-up which causes odor. When BioBags are used with the Max Air, the consumer has the ultimate system for food waste collection. |

Summary:
Absolutely love it!
Detailed:
I was totally fed up with emptying and cleaning out a plastic bucket that I used for my kitchen scraps. Would this one actually be odor free? Since it was such a good price I decided to try it and I am thrilled. I came home after being gone for 5 days and my husband had filled it and not emptied it. Even with some mold growing on the scraps, it did not smell.

Summary:
Bye Bye Fruit Flies
Detailed:
We've had this compost bucket for a year and we are really happy with it.
It may not be the prettiest, but it is by far the best one we've found.
What we like:
* It has a relatively low footprint, especially considering the capacity. It usually takes us about 2 days to fill it up.
* Convenient to use -It has a hinged lid. When you are cooking, you can lift the lid, and it stays open. Once you are done, you just push it lightly to close.
* It closes well, so there are no odors escaping, and no chance for fruit flies to breed.
* When we first bought it, our place had a ton of happy fruit flies parading all over the kitchen. The fruit flies were gone within two weeks of getting the composter.
* We have it on our countertop, but it is small enough to store it under the sink. It is relatively light, and has a handle, so it is easy to take out and put it back in.
* The bags are fully compostable. They may seem pricey, but a package with 25 bags usually lasts a couple of months.
* Since the scraps go inside the compostable bag, the bucket itself stays relatively clean. With other, better looking compost buckets, you have to thoroughly clean out the container each time you empty it, and those rotten scraps can get kind of gross -- not a problem with this one.
* Unlike other systems, there is no filter to purchase.
Overall, we are very happy with this compost bucket.

Summary:
Works as advertised ...
Detailed:
We keep this composting bucket under the sink with a special breathable plastic bag in it and throw all our vegetable waste, egg shells, coffee grounds, etc in. Even after a week - no bad odor. Then, when full, out to the compost bin. I like the idea of reducing the amount of trash headed to a landfill.

Summary:
Good idea
Detailed:
Container is pretty handy, and definitely lets the bag and its content breath. It fits the 3 gallon bags well but could be a little larger -- I don't think I'm able to fully fill my bags (compared to when I used only the bag and no container). There are some sharp edges on the instead of the container that tend to snag (and rip) the bag when removing it, but it doesn't happen all the time.

Summary:
If only they sold a larger size!
Detailed:
This is a great system and it generates very little smell...something I find remarkable. However, it's pretty ugly to keep on the counter and I'm uncomfortable leaving it on the floor, where insects would attack. I wish BioBag would make a full trash-can size to fit in modern kitchens, where the trash bucket is inside a drawer, so we could use it without making our kitchen unsightly.
