Changing the world without changing the Earth Planet Friendly 100% Biodegradable 100% Compostable For the collection of kitchen food scraps and other biodegradable waste for composting BioBags are great for food storage! You'll love using BioBags to store refrigerated fruits and vegetables. BioBags "breathe" without leaking. This unique feature allows heat and moisture to evaporate through the walls of the bag, keeping fruits and vegetables fresher longer. Try it! Your veggies will stay crisp and fresh days longer than using regular plastic food storage bags. Kitchen food waste makes great compost! BioBags take the mess out of food waste collection, keeping your compost pail odor-free. When disposed, BioBags will biodegrade as naturally as the food scraps, leaving no harmful residue. BioBag is the world's largest selling brand of certified biodegradable and compostable bags made from the material, Mater-Bi. No polyethylene is used in the production of this product. BioBags are GMO free, certified for use in organic agriculture and CEN certified for restricted use of metals in our soy-based inks and dyes. BioBags are shelf stable, just like paper towels, yet biodegrade quickly when exposed to nature's elements and micro-organisms, leaving no harmful residues behind. Please look for the BPI compostable logo to assure the products you buy are truly biodegradable and compostable. We thank you for helping reduce the amount of polyethylene-based bags that litter our streets, backwoods and waterways. The Ten Second Plastic Bag Lesson Regular polyethylene-based plastic bags can take well over 100 years to degrade and are not compostable. Less than 2% of all plastic bags ever get recycled. Plastic bags litter our streets, backwoods and waterways. Studies indicate that 100,000 marine animals and 2 million birds die each year from ingesting or being caught up in plastic debris. Summary:
Buyer Beware--Poor Packaging
Detailed:
These bags DO NOT come in the box as shown in the description. I have purchased them before from [...] and they were great! But they also came packaged in a box that protected them from getting torn up under my sink. Unfortunatly Amazon.com just sent a roll of bags secured with tape. These bags are pretty flimsy, which they need to be to decompose, of course but tend to rip down the sides if not protected in a box. Very dissapointed because I know they aren't going to last and feel like I was mislead with the picture of the packaging.

Summary:
Can be used as a trash bag just fine
Detailed:
It is thin indeed but I have no problems using it as a regular trash bag. I live in the city, where there's no composting. So I just use these as trash can liners. It does the job. You have to be a bit gentler with it than regular liners, but it's not very inconvenient at all. The 3 gallon is not all that useful though. The larger size (20 gallon I think) works better for regular sized kitchen trash cans.

Summary:
Disappointed
Detailed:
OK for storage, I guess. Tried to use for kitchen waste compost. After a year, the plastic still was not broken down. Had to fish out & put into trash before using the compost in the garden. Several bags evidently were not sealed properly, so had open bottoms - couldn't use. Maybe we didn't allow enough time, but didn't want bags in our garden & the compost was ready.

Summary:
Great for kitty litter.
Detailed:
I have used these bags for about a week or so and I am very pleased. I wanted something for kitty litter that was not going to sit in a landfill for years. I think these bags are a good size for that. I haven't had any rip...and I use each bag for at least three different litter cleanings. I can't comment on using them for compost, but for cat litter they work just fine.

Summary:
Great for Cat Waste!
Detailed:
I bought these to try for cat litter box disposal because I didn't like using old grocery bags. I gotta say I was very impressed. I like these so much I'm going to be ordering more. They are just the right size and I have 3 catboxes to clean out. They are strong enough for this purpose - hold up very well and my cats waste is very heavy since one is "sort of diabetic". I would recommend these to anybody who is looking for pet waste disposal bags that are environmentally friendly. I will probably start using them elsewhere in my home too.
